MTS Announces Free Express Bus Rides
10News, January 28, 2010
Rides on an express bus route in the North County that connects 4S Ranch, Rancho Bernardo, Mira Mesa and Poway to Sorrento Valley and the Golden Triangle will be free for two weeks next month. In an effort to improve ridership, the Metropolitan Transit System's Route 880 will be free from Feb. 16 to Feb. 26, according to San Diego City Councilwoman Sherri Lightner, who sits on the MTS board.
"Our goal today is to encourage potential riders to try out this route and consider public transit as a great option for their daily commute," Lightner said. "We need to continue to promote more use of transit throughout the region, and especially along the congested I-15 corridor."
Route 880, which is subsidized by developer mitigation fees from 4S Ranch, has three morning rush hour trips and three in the evening.
